ContactKey hilft dir in einem Anruf, einer Videokonferenz oder einem Chat sicher zu wissen: Bist du wirklich mit der Person verbunden, der du einmal persönlich begegnet bist — oder gibt sich jemand anderes (oder eine KI) als sie aus?

Die Idee zu ContactKey entstand aus einer realen Bedrohung: gefälschten Notrufen innerhalb der Familie („Dein Sohn braucht Hilfe …") und der zunehmenden Gefahr durch KI-Fakes. ContactKey ist die moderne Variante eines Safewords – einfach, und ohne das Risiko, das vereinbarte Wort im entscheidenden Moment vergessen zu haben.

Wie es funktioniert

Persönlich treffen. Beim ersten Mal trefft ihr euch in Person und scannt euch gegenseitig den QR-Code in der App. Dieser einmalige Schritt ist der Anker des Verfahrens.
Rotierendes Safeword. Danach zeigen beide Telefone jederzeit ein gemeinsames Wort, das sich jede Minute ändert.
Im Anruf vorlesen. Stimmen die Wörter überein, ist die Person echt. Stimmen sie nicht überein, ruf zurück über einen separaten, dir bekannten Kanal.

Was ContactKey ist

Ein zusätzliches Werkzeug zur Identitätsbestätigung zwischen Menschen, die sich regelmäßig persönlich sehen — Familie, Verwandtschaft, Kolleg:innen, Vereins- und Hobbygruppen.
Vollständig offline: keine Konten, keine Cloud, keine Telemetrie, keine Werbung.
Lokal verschlüsselt im hardwaregestützten Schlüsselspeicher deines Telefons.
Quelloffen unter der Business Source License 1.1, mit Übergang auf Apache 2.0 zum 29.04.2031.

Was ContactKey nicht ist

Keine Verschlüsselung von Nachrichten.
Kein Passwort-Manager.
Kein Ersatz für die Sicherheitsmechanismen anderer Dienste.

Privatsphäre

Sämtliche Daten verbleiben verschlüsselt auf deinem Telefon. Die App verbindet sich nur für zwei Dinge mit dem Internet: die Zeitabfrage (NTP), damit beide Telefone das gleiche Wort zur gleichen Minute zeigen, und – nur wenn du freiwillig einen Entwicklungsbeitrag leistest – die Kaufabwicklung über den App Store bzw. Google Play. Es werden keinerlei Nutzerdaten an den Herausgeber oder Dritte übertragen.

ContactKey helps you, during a call, video meeting, or chat, to know for sure: are you really talking to the person you once met in person — or is someone else (or an AI) impersonating them?

The idea for ContactKey grew out of a real threat: faked emergency calls within the family ("Your son needs help …") and the growing danger of AI fakes. ContactKey is a modern take on the safeword — simple, and without the risk of forgetting the agreed word at the critical moment.

How it works

Meet in person. The first time, the two of you meet face-to-face and scan each other's QR code in the app. That one-time step is the anchor of the whole protocol.
Rotating safeword. From then on, both phones display a shared word that changes every minute.
Read it out on the call. If the words match, the person is real. If they don't match, call back through a separate, known channel.

What ContactKey is

An additional tool for identity verification between people who see each other regularly in person — family, relatives, colleagues, clubs and hobby groups.
Fully offline: no accounts, no cloud, no telemetry, no ads.
Locally encrypted in your phone's hardware-backed keystore.
Open source under the Business Source License 1.1, transitioning to Apache 2.0 on 2031-04-29.

What ContactKey is NOT

Not a message encryption tool.
Not a password manager.
Not a replacement for the security mechanisms of other services.

Privacy

All data stays encrypted on your phone. The app connects to the internet for just two things: a time query (NTP) so both phones show the same word at the same minute, and — only if you choose to make a voluntary development contribution — payment processing via the App Store or Google Play. No user data is transmitted to the publisher or any third party.
